Martin Jol linked with vacant Fulham hotseat

Former Spurs manager Martin Jol has been linked wth a return to London and a move to Fulham. The current Ajax boss will have a shot at Champions League football should he stay in Holland but may be about to return to London, with sources saying he feels he has “unfinished business” in the Premiership.

Since Roy Hodgson’s departure, Fulham have been on the lookout for a proven replacement and see Jol, a likeable character who was seen as doing a good job at Spurs with limited resources despite being sacked after three years, as their ideal replacement.

Jol  led Tottenham to their highest league finish since 1990, when they finished fifth in his first full season in charge, only dropping out of the Champions League places on the final day of the season after the squad had been struck down with fod poisoning. His Ajax team were pipped to the league by Steve McLaren’s FC Twente by just a single point but did win the Dutch Cup

Jol has grown frustrated at the lack of financial backing he has been given at Ajax in his first season and may now jump at the opportunity to go to a stable club like Fulham. It is believed he has been promised transfer funds to bring in players should he make the switch to London.
