Saturday, September 8th:  Portugal Vs Poland / Serbia Vs Finland

On Saturday, the top four teams from the group square off and by the end of the night the group could be looking completely different. Portugal and serbia lie third and fourth but have a game in hand on the top two, so home wins would see portugal and Serbia take pole position in the group. A Poland win away at Portugal would all but end the Portugese interest in winning the group, and if Finland were to beat Serbia the Portugese could be looking at being a major upset in not qualifying for the tournament that they reached the final of four years ago.

On Wednesday the top four mix it up as Finland host Poland and Portugal host Serbia. Portugal will need victory in this game regardless of Saturday’s result, likewise Serbia will potentially be playing for a top two finish against Portugal should they fail to beat Poland on Saturday. Both Poland and Portugal will be missing players for Saturday’s clash, Portugal missing Carvalho and Pepe, two of their first choice defenders, while Poland are missing Bak and Golinski who both picked up injuries recently. It should be interesting……

Atletico Madrid and portugal winger Simao said of the upcoming games: We are behind due to points lost and the onus on us is greater now. But I believe the team is strong and we can win both matches.Portugal lost their away fixture against Poland 2-1 and Simão added: We learn all the time and we should always remember the mistakes. It was a bad game for us but it is important to look ahead – we can fix the errors. Simao’s International teammate Petit added:  They are decisive matches and we are focused only on winning them,” said midfielder Petit. “We don’t have room for any more mistakesI hope the stadiums are full because the supporters’ help will be crucial,” he said. “Our team is very strong and I am confident we can qualify.
