Sven Snares Seventh Signing

Sven is showing seven teeth, one for each new signing (count if you don’t believe me)

Chelsea who? Manchester City are making waves in the transfer market thanks to backing from new owner Thaskin Shinawatra. The Manchester outfit have signed seven new players since Sven Goran Eriksson arrived and apparently they’re not quite finished yet. Aside from the others, City have signed Brazilian midfielder Elano who featured in this summer’s Copa America. The player is very highly rated and cost City’s new owners 8 million from Shaktar Donetsk. Valeri Bojinov is due to be confirmed in the coming days bringing the tally to eight new faces at Eastlands. The Bulgarian international is reported to be close to agreeing a four year deal which will see him swap Fiorentina for England. Mr Eriksson has bolstered his attacking options with Italian striker Bianchi and attacking midfielders Geovanni and flagship signing Martin Petrov from Atletico Madrid. With all the action Man City fans must be beside themselves with excitement for the new season.

In the red half of Manchester, not to be outdone, Manchester United have secured the signature of 9 year old, yes 9, prodigy Rhain Davis of Australia. He hasn’t been snatched from the pouch of a kangaroo however as the family were moving to Cheshire anyway and his proud grandad sent a DVD of his grandsons performance for Redlands United U10’s in Oz. Had to end up at United really. United are also set to leave Alan Smith go to Newcastle after agreeing a 6 million pound deal with the club. Allardyce has been in the hunt for Smith for a while now and seems to have fought off competition from Middlesbrough to get his man.

Liverpool’s Irish defender, Steve Finnan, has signed a new two year deal. The 31 year old has been a consistent performer for the Reds in the past few seasons and is often the unheralded star of the team. Described as a “steady-eddie” by former Liverpool player, Phil Neal, the deal sees Finnan under contract on Merseyside until 2009.

Across the road, Everton are reported to be close to landing Sweedish defender Daniel Moeback. The Elfsborg stopper, who used to be a striker, is said to be keen on a switch to the premiership. Not mad about Everton then?

Reading have smashed their transfer record by securing the services Nante’s Emerse Fae for 2.5 million. The Ivory Coast midfielder has been tracked by Reading for some time and seemed to be available at a steal for the price they paid. He also said nice things about his new boss, Steve Coppell, which is always good. Who’s getting the teacher’s pet sticker on Monday?

Aston Villa are hoping to sign another scandinavian defender and this time in the guise of Brede Hangeland. The 26-year old is rated around the 4 million mark by FC Copenhagen (obviously) and O’ Neill is said to be very keen indeed. A replacement for Liam Ridgewell is a priority for O’ Neill and Villa are hoping that Hangeland is their man.

Oh, and Chelsea have recieved word that Alex has recieved a work permit so cue plane to take him back to London.
