The Sun

Liverpool are ready to splash the cash and Rafa Benitez will bid £25million for Atletico’s darling Fernando Torres. We’re not so sure. The money will have to be extreme but rumours are the move will be made with an offer of Luis Garcia in exchange. Whether Garcia would fancy going to a team who won’t be in the Champions League next season is a different story. Going back to Spain may be interesting to the Spaniard, and his long-term injury may see Liverpool offload him on the off chance he doesn’t recapture his best form once . However, Garcia remains one of Benitez’ darlings and as Momo Sissoko reportedly pledges his future to the club despite the competition in midfield, expect Garcia to do the same. The fact that he is one of Liverpool’s few flair players will also put Benitez off selling him. A relationship could be struck up with Torres, however this has a long way to go before sounding convincing. Juventus were linked with Bellamy before signing Iaquinta from Udinese recently….

Birmingham have made a £2.5 million offer for Gary O’Connor of Lokomotiv Moscow. This story has been confirmed today though there is apparently a stumbling block over the payments, with Moscow seeking the money up front as a whole. Expect this transfer to go through. It’s not a bad price for a highly-rated player like O’Connor who showed what he can do when scoring for Scotland with the winner over Austria recently. Bruce knows full well that scoring goals can be tricky for newly promoted teams, and O’Connor may just have that ability to help out in front of goal.

Mido is set to join Fulham from Spurs in the next couple of days. Well they snuck that one in on the sly didn’t they?? A whisper of a rumour, an interesting one nonetheless though. Lawrie Sanchez is known to favour a more direct style of football and Mido happens to be a decent target man. The Egyptian is likely to make staying in London a priority and this move could suit all parties. The fee may prove to be the stumbling block, we’re not too convinced at this point in time.

Daily Mirror

Chelsea are lining up a bid for Royston Drenthe of Feyenoord in the region of £4million. Looks like a good move to us. Drenthe was scouted by Thefc100 against England last night in their U21 semi-final and looks a genuine prospect. Why we were scouting him remains to be seen. Possibly because we’ve gone rather thin from the lack of football at the moment. The Edgar Davids lookalike caused numerous problems for England during the game, however our favourite moment was when he stepped up to take his second penalty of the dramatic shoot-out having hit the post with his first attempt. Bang, same corner, absolutely no chance for Carson. Balls of steel: Drenthe, we salute you. (Just don’t go to Chelsea ’cause you wont get regular football).

Spurs will listen to offers for Jermaine Defoe once they wrap up the signing of Darren Bent. Sounds fair enough to us. Oooh, just imagine the awkwardness on England duty. ‘hey Darren, how are things? Oh fine, yourself? Yeah not bad, hey nice surname! Oh that’s mature, hey bite me! Excellent. Thefc100 is also willing to bet that if this rotation does happen, Defoe will score more goals than Bent. Place your bets here…..
